We have a national network of nearly 50 laboratories, all UKAS accredited, employing around 2000 staff.
We use a hub-and-spoke model. In hospitals, we usually build a Rapid Response Laboratory for acute diagnostics. Less urgent or more specialist work is carried out in hub laboratories, and all are connected through our IT and by logistics.
Our major hub laboratories are located in London and Manchester.
The Halo laboratory in London and is one of the largest pathology laboratories in Europe. It is situated in the heart of London’s bioscience hub, next door to world-renowned medical institutions and hospitals such as the Francis Crick Institute, the Wellcome Trust, and University College Hospital. The Halo is a purpose-built facility featuring the latest technologies and, coupled with our many years of experience, it allows us to deliver world-class pathology and diagnostic services.
Our laboratory in Manchester works to the same high standards and helps us to provide a comprehensive service across the whole of the UK.
From these two main laboratories we have a network of connected laboratories across the UK.
